Hi, I’m Andreanna (they/she). My approach to therapy is rooted in curiosity, empathy and authenticity. I believe deeply in the power of the therapeutic relationship and seek to build a strong foundation of trust and authenticity from which we may work together on your personal healing and self-discovery.
I work to foster a safe and empowering space for individuals and couples to sift through their stories and experiences in order to better understand themselves and their patterns and allow space for healing from trauma and attachment wounds.
Who I am
I am a multifaceted being with rich life experience, passionate and endlessly curious about learning and growing. My multiple identities inform my practice and perspective, so I will share them here.
I am queer, neurodivergent (ADHD), and polyamorous, and these identities have forced me to find nuance and forge my own path in the world beyond mainstream scripts of how to live and love.
I am a single mother of a 9 year old girl whom I have raised on my own for most of her life. I am deeply aware of the struggles, hopes, dreams, fears, and wonder that is parenthood, as well as systemic issues facing single parents.
I am also a survivor of multiple abusive relationships, and the process of learning what love is and what it isn’t through my own therapy is what ignited my passion to become a relationally focused therapist myself.
I spent much of my adolescence and early adulthood digging deep into myself through meditation, learning to grow food and studying permaculture and sustainability, and living a nomadic lifestyle. This allowed me to deeply explore both my inner and outer existence, leading to a broader and deeper understanding of myself and my relationship to the world I inhabit. All of these parts of my history and identity come together to make me the individual and therapist I am today.
How I work
I approach therapy as a collaborative journey between myself and my clients. You are the expert of your own experience, and I view it as an honor, a privilege, and a responsibility to be allowed into your world to do this work with you. I believe the foundation of good therapy rests in a strong therapeutic relationship in which we can be authentic, honest, and open. I tailor my therapeutic approach uniquely to each individual client and based on their specific needs, areas of focus, interests, and personality.
Two modalities I operate from are narrative therapy and relational cultural theory (RCT). I am a storyteller and listener and believe in the power of narrative and language to shape our worlds. I also believe that we are fundamentally wired for connection and all of our trauma and the key to our healing is relational at the core. I work from a systemic approach, incorporating awareness of the complex web of experiences, identities, relationships, family history, cultural heritage, historical context, and areas of marginalization or privilege unique to each client that creates their own personal tapestry of identity.
I also use Internal Family Systems (IFS) as a modality to meet and befriend all the different parts that make up who we are. Learning about these parts as well as the stories of how they came to be and how they relate to each other is part of the process to create more internal cohesiveness in order to work towards greater integration of the self and healing from trauma.
I offer sex positive and queer, kink, and consensual non monogamy (CNM) informed perspectives with my couples and individuals. Along with previously mentioned modalities, I incorporate Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) techniques into my couples work.
Social justice advocacy is foundational to my therapeutic work. I work from a queer, feminist, decolonial, antiracist, and culturally aware lens. I believe the personal is political and that none of us can truly be free until all of us are free. I strive as much as possible to stand up for these values in the face of injustice, continue to educate myself on systems of power and oppression, and do my part towards creating a more just and equitable world.
Who I Work With
I work with a variety of different individuals and couples across all spectrums of gender identity, sexuality, cultural heritage, and relationship orientation and specialize in relationship, sex, and attachment trauma.
